Presence and status
In the Hub, the dot next to your avatar tells your colleagues whether you are around, and a short status says what you are up to. Both live in the avatar menu in the top-right corner and apply to every tab and device you are signed in on.
Presence states
Section titled “Presence states”Open the avatar menu and hover the first item: it shows your current state and opens the Status list with four options.
| State | Dot | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Online | green | The default. After 10 minutes without moving the mouse, typing or touching the screen, you show as Away; as soon as you interact again, you are back to Online automatically. |
| Away | yellow | You show as away until you change state, even if you keep using SquadOS. |
| Do not disturb | red | Mutes the sound, the on-screen mention toast and push notifications. Unread counters, room highlights and the number in the tab title keep tracking what arrived. |
| Invisible | grey | Colleagues see you as Offline, but you use everything as usual and receive sound, toasts and push exactly as in Online. |
A manual choice (Away, Do not disturb or Invisible) is saved on your profile: closing the browser or signing in from another device does not bring you back to Online. Only Online switches to Away automatically on inactivity.
Anyone not connected in any tab shows as Offline to others.
Custom status
Section titled “Custom status”In the same menu, Set a status opens the Set a status dialog:
- Pick an emoji (optional) and type in What are you up to? — up to 80 characters. At least one of the two is required.
- The shortcuts ☕ Coffee, 🎧 Focus, 🍽️ Lunch and 🏖️ Vacation fill in emoji and text at once; you can edit them afterwards.
- Under Clear after, choose 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, Today (until the end of the day) or Never.
- Click Save status.
While a status is active it replaces Set a status in the menu. To remove it before it expires, open the dialog and use Clear status. When the time is up, the status disappears on its own.
The status belongs to you, not to the organization: it shows the same in every organization you are part of.
Where colleagues see it
Section titled “Where colleagues see it”- In a room’s See who takes part list, each present person has the dot in the colour of their state and, next to the name, the status emoji and text.
- In the header of a direct conversation, the other person’s state is spelled out (Online, Away, Do not disturb or Offline) and the status sits right below the name.
- On a person’s card, opened from the participants list, the status shows in full.
- When mentioning someone with
@, the dot accompanies each suggested name.
People who are Offline or Invisible show no status in lists. Agents have neither a state nor a status.
How it relates to notification preferences
Section titled “How it relates to notification preferences”Do not disturb is temporary and applies to everything. Your permanent sound and per-room level preferences stay in User settings; when you leave Do not disturb, they apply again as they were.
