Installing and updating Studio
SquadOS Studio is a desktop app for macOS and Windows. Once installed, updates arrive on their own.
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, on a Mac with an Intel or Apple Silicon processor (the same installer works for both); or
- 64-bit Windows (x64), with the Microsoft Store.
- An internet connection.
- An account for the AI: your company’s (SquadOS) or your ChatGPT or Claude subscription. See First run and accounts.
Install on macOS
Section titled “Install on macOS”- Download the installer (
.dmg) from the SquadOS Studio releases page. - Open the downloaded file and drag SquadOS Studio into the Applications folder.
- Open Studio from the Applications folder or from Launchpad.
The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without an unidentified developer warning.
Install on Windows
Section titled “Install on Windows”- Open SquadOS Studio in the Microsoft Store.
- Click Get (or Install) and wait for the Store to finish.
- Open Studio from the Start menu.
Updates
Section titled “Updates”On Windows, the Microsoft Store installs Studio updates, as it does for other Store apps.
On macOS, in Settings → Updates:
- Download and update automatically downloads each new version as soon as it is out and installs it when you close Studio.
- Check for updates checks right away for a new version.
- When a version is ready, choose Restart and install or Install when I close SquadOS. If Studio is working on a conversation, it does not restart: installation waits until you close it.
Studio only installs updates published and signed by SquadOS. An update that fails this check, or that is older than the installed version, is refused and nothing changes.
To see the installed version, use Help → About SquadOS Studio.
